The design of an appropriate legislative strategy requires a thorough understanding of a client’s objectives, priorities and vision.  We use active listening to develop a lobbying plan that fits the client’s short-term and long-term goals. 

Communicating with 36 Senators and 151 Representatives serving on 27 Legislative Committees demands a concise message and perseverance.

Some of the services we offer are listed below.

  • Monitor and report legislative initiatives, proposed bills, and other information of interest or concern to clients.
  • Analyze the political environment from the client’s perspective and suggest a course of action.
  • Explain the rules and procedures of the General Assembly and how a bill becomes law.
  • Assist in the strategic planning of a legislative agenda that may require coalition development and long-term cultivation.
  • Assist in development of legislative language.
  • Develop a plan to support, oppose or influence the language of certain legislation.
  • Develop a grassroots strategy that builds coalitions with other stakeholders.
  • Research issues of concern to clients, prepare fact sheets and assist in the preparation of written testimony for public hearings.
  • Prepare clients to testify before legislative committees.
  • Assist clients in identifying, recruiting and preparing advocates to tell the client’s story to key decision makers.
  • Arrange meetings for clients with legislators, committee chairs, legislative leadership, decision makers, and the Governor’s office.
  • Organization of a lobby day at the Capitol.
  • Lobby legislators on specific legislation being considered by their committee or chamber.
  • Meet with Legislative Leadership and the Governor’s office on the client’s behalf.
  • Correspond with legislators.
  • Assess organizational liability of new legislation.
  • Assist in the preparation of a scorecard of legislative votes.
  • Attend and report on legislative task forces, commission meetings, hearings and conferences regarding issues affecting the client.
